WHAT ARE THE SEASONS?





There are 4 seasons:
  1. summer
  2. autumn or fall
  3. winter and
  4. spring

Below is some information on each season. read through the information and then work through the worksheet attached at the end of the page:

SUMMER:
  • Summer is the warmest of the four seasons.
  • it comes between spring and autumn
  • the days are longest and the nights are shortest
  • Long, hot days
  • Summer fruit and vegetables are ready to be picked.You see many bees and butterflies fly flower to flower.
  • people wear shorts and t-shirts to stay cool.


AUTUMN:

  • Autumn marks the transition from summer into winter.
  • Animals get ready for winter.
  • the leaves fall from the trees.
  • days are shorter and nights are longer
  • temperatures begin to drop

WINTER:
  • Winter is the coldest season of the year in climates,
  • it falls between autumn and spring.
  • in the middle of winter the days are shortest and the nights are longest.
  • animals are in hiding
  • in some countries it may snow.
  • people wear coats and jumpers to stay warm.

SPRING:

  • The sun shines more and the days begin to get warmer.
  • Spring is a time when baby animals are born.
  • Spring is a time when plants and trees wake up after a long winters nap.
  • Spring showers help to warm the earth, moisten the soil, helping new plants to grow.
